Description
Compass Group is seeking a solid high volume cook to help serve JPH (Rural Louisiana Hospital of the Year) by preparing meals for patients, visitors, and staff. Culinary skills will be assessed on first interview. Competitive salary and a great working environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares and cooks a variety of food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions or numbers of portions to be served and ensures consistent quality of food.
  • Assist and follows orders of Dietitian.
  • Delivers, serves, or sells (cashier) designated foods to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Follows the food production sheets, menus, and diet orders assuring appropriate and correct quality food products are given.
  • Cleans and inspects equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
  • Covers, labels, and dates all food items as needed.
  • Greets patients, staff, and visitors in a courteous and respectful manner; responds with positive interpersonal skills and handles requests with a positive attitude.
  • Attends department meetings and educational in-services to maintain professional competency. Obtains appropriate hospital-specific education and training when necessary or required.
  • Responds to all emergency situations within the facility and follows appropriate hospital procedure.
  • Adheres to all Jackson Parish Hospital policies, procedures, safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations.
  • Regular attendance and timeliness is required.
  • Adheres to department and hospital dress code policy and procedure.
  • Performs all/any additional duties as assigned by the department manager/supervisor.
  • Harmony with existing team is imperative.

Requirements
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years of experience in food service preferred.
  • Culinary skills required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
  • Professional/Courteous rapport with patients, families, co-workers, physicians and visitors.
  • Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work long hours between breaks and meals may be required.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • food safety certification preferred

Ability to operate dietary equipment, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, printer, cash register, and calculator;
