We are seeking Refrigeration / HVAC Service Technicians to troubleshoot, diagnose & repair equipment in a timely manner. This position will be responsible for all phases of refrigeration & HVAC service including preventive maintenance.

Service Experience We are seeking a highly experienced Commercial Rack Refrigeration Technician with hands-on expertise in supermarket parallel rack systems. This is not a general HVAC role—this position is dedicated to technicians who understand the complexity of centralized refrigeration plants serving full supermarket environments. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning advanced rack refrigeration systems, including CO2 (R-744) transcritical systems, while ensuring minimal downtime for customers.

What Sets This Role Apart This position is specifically built for technicians with true rack refrigeration experience, including: Supermarket parallel rack systems supporting cases, walk-ins, and prep areas Centralized refrigeration plants (not stand-alone units) CO2 transcritical booster systems and natural refrigerants Advanced controls and EMS systems (e.g., Emerson/Copeland, Danfoss, Hussmann, Hillphoenix) Complex troubleshooting across multi-evaporator, multi-compressor systems If your experience is primarily residential or light commercial HVAC, this role may not be a fit. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair supermarket rack refrigeration systems (DX and CO2) Perform advanced troubleshooting on compressors, cases, valves, controls, and sensors Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and efficiency Commission new rack systems, including startup and system tuning Work with electronic control systems and EMS platforms Respond to emergency service calls and minimize system downtime Perform leak detection, refrigerant management, and system optimization Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate with customers Collaborate with installation teams and support system retrofits/upgrades Required Experience 3+ years of commercial rack refrigeration experience in supermarket environments Proven experience working on parallel rack systems (multi-compressor setups) Strong understanding of low-temp and medium-temp refrigeration systems Experience troubleshooting controls, EEVs, VFDs, and rack controllers Ability to work independently in active supermarket environments Advanced Experience Experience with CO2 (R-744) transcritical systems Familiarity with Emerson/Copeland, Danfoss, Hussmann, Hillphoenix systems Knowledge of rack control programming and EMS integration Experience with system commissioning and startups Supermarket remodels, retrofits, or store openings Qualifications EPA Universal Certification (required) Valid driver's license with clean driving record Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and piping schematics Proficient with tools, gauges, and diagnostic instruments Comfortable using mobile technology for service reporting Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders or rooftops Ability to work in refrigerated/freezer environments Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed Compensation & Benefits Top-tier pay based on experience Weekly direct deposit 100% Company-Paid Family Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance premiums 401(k) with generous company contribution (match doubles after 3 years of service) Company-paid life insurance & long-term disability Paid vacation, holidays, sick days, and flex time Company service vehicle, fuel card, and toll coverage Work Schedule Full-time, Monday-Friday Overtime and on-call rotation as required * Field-based (travel throughout NJ, PA, DE) Equal Opportunity Employer Cold Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
