Position Summary: Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a Physician.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

 

·         Rooming and preparing patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.

·         Drawing blood.

·         Preparing and administering medications, as directed by Physician.

·         Authorizing prescription refills, as directed.

·         Assisting Physician during examinations.

·         Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.

·         Contacting patients regarding lab results.

·         Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding.

·         Keep exam rooms neat and orderly, and fully stocked.

·         Placing patients on NST equipment and monitoring progress.

·         Perform telephone triage according to the limits set by the Physicians based on knowledge and experience.

 

Other Responsibilities:

 

·         Scheduling appointments.

·         Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock and giving supply orders to Front Desk Manager

Education/Experience: Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program; a minimum of three years of experience in the Healthcare industry; or an acceptable combination of education and experience, which must include the MA certification, or the commitment to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
