Description:
Facilitates student learning in a stem-centric, early college learning environment targeting college readiness for 9th through 12th grade students from a variety of districts. Engages in deep professional and personal development in order to become a leader of educational change.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure in AYA Life Sciences; or the ability to obtain licensure
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Provides personalized instruction & coaching to students in a mastery-based learning environment.
  • Conducts on -going assessment of student progress and adjusts instruction & coaching accordingly.
  • Works collaboratively with other instructors to construct and maintain a high quality learning environment
  • Works collaboratively with students and their families to optimize learning.
  • Analyzes records to identify students' immediate & long-range needs.
  • Utilizes student assessment results & approved course of study to develop lesson plans for assignments & activities that meet identified student needs.
  • Counsels each student regarding his/her academic & behavioral progress.
  • Implements all institutional policies.
  • Plays multiple roles beyond the classroom including student recruitment and admissions, new program development, communication with multiple districts, partnership development with outside organizations, website management and collaboration with other center initiatives.
  • Ability to provide services that implement the school's educational mission
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, and government regulations

Curriculum
  • Design and implement curriculum that stresses discovery and different learning methods for students at a variety of skill levels and backgrounds
  • Prepare lesson plans that teach core objectives and principles that are relevant to future education, and that demonstrate how this knowledge is useful in the real world
  • Manage, plan, prepare, and differentiate class activities that facilitate active learning experiences

Administrative & Other Duties
  • Complete long and short-term planning
  • Grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments
  • Make changes to learning plans and activities
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities ? Update online class materials using Schoology
  • Modify units and adapt them to current classes
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs ? Prepare classroom for class activities
