Job Summary
GENERATION Site Development & Construction
Provide advanced GIS expertise with responsibility for GIS staff oversight and work product quality. Apply a broad range of geo-spatial technologies, analytical methods, and customized GIS solutions to support business needs. Serve as a technical resource for GIS users, maintain data consistency, and support the development, implementation, and improvement of GIS standards, workflows, and system interfaces. Support power generation siting studies by mapping potential power generation assets in GIS and logging all pertinent site information in the company database.
Job Description
What you'll do:
Essential Job Functions & Tasks
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity of data in the GIS system.
  • Monitor data entry for consistency and coordinate updates to applicable GIS data.
  • Develop, assemble, edit, and revise maps and map products using GIS cartographic concepts, principles, and processes.
  • Provide business unit support to IT for maintenance of the GIS system.
  • Establish workflows, protocols, and standards for the GIS team to meet project objectives.
  • Provide primary support to GIS users, including technical application support and functional business support.
  • Support internet and web-based GIS applications.
  • Address business unit concerns related to software and recommend improvements and enhancements.
  • Work with technical staff to analyze software issues and help resolve problems.
  • Train employees on data entry, data manipulation, information extraction, and GIS software applications.
  • Assist in the development of software user manuals.
  • Ensure the department's GIS interfaces effectively with other corporate systems.
  • Provide leadership by promoting innovation, initiating change, and maintaining operating efficiency.
  • Integrate geographic, cartographic, remote sensing, and GPS concepts into resource data management and display.
  • Coordinate and support the integration of GPS data with GIS, including data research and purchasing.
  • Assist in developing GIS standards for symbology, processes, strategies, and procedures.
  • Work with customers to support project development and GIS platform needs.
  • Monitor staff workload and provide quality control oversight of GIS work products.
  • Provide technical expertise in data analysis, visualization, database development, and management.
  • Lead development of protocols and analysis procedures.
  • Identify and implement appropriate methods and techniques for GIS projects.

What we're looking for:
Education requirements are listed below:
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field; or
  • Associate's degree in a related field with 2 years of relevant work experience; or
  • High School diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience and a GIS certification.

Work Experience requirement listed below:
  • 7 years of GIS-related work experience required.

Other preferences:
  • Proficiency in industry software, strong database management, electrical grid knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Highly motivated detail-oriented and a team player.
  • Advanced GIS expertise with staff and work product oversight responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of database development and management.
  • Experience leading protocol, workflow, and standards development.
  • Ability to support data analysis and visualization needs.
  • Valid state driver's license required.
