Job description

Position: Group Facilitator

Job Summary: The Group Facilitator delivers structured, evidenceinformed group sessions for individuals recovering from substance use and/or cooccurring mental health disorders. This role focuses on group psychoeducation, skills practice, and recovery support, following approved curricula and program schedules. The facilitator documents services in compliance with agency, payor, and federal requirements.   

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Group Facilitation (Primary)

  • Facilitate psychoeducational and skills-based groups (e.g., CBT/DBT skills, relapse prevention, MI-informed recovery groups, trauma-informed coping, life skills, wellness/recovery, co-occurring education).
  • Follow approved curricula and group schedules; tailor delivery to client acuity and stage of change.
  • Apply trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally responsive practices; foster psychological safety and group cohesion.
  • Use prosocial and recovery-oriented interventions (peer support, community connectedness, positive reinforcement).
  • Manage group dynamics: set norms, redirect disruptions, de-escalate conflict, and maintain boundaries.

Client Safety & Escalation

  • Conduct brief pre/post-session check-ins as needed for safety and engagement.
  • Identify risk indicators (relapse, suicidality, psychosis, domestic violence); follow crisis protocols and escalate to clinical supervisor

Documentation & Compliance

  • Document group notes (attendance, participation, intervention, response, risk, next steps), meeting billing and Quality Improvement standards.
  • Safeguard PHI in strict compliance with 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA; communicate client information only within scope.
  • Track outcome/engagement measures when required by program.

Teaming & Program Support

  • Communicate client concerns to the primary clinician/case manager; contribute brief observations to treatment team huddles as requested.
  • Provide input on group scheduling, curricula gaps, and client engagement strategies.
  • Maintain familiarity with community resources and share resource information in group (no direct linkage/case management unless activated by clinical team).

Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Active CDCA certification
  • Must pass BCI check, all Corporate Compliance checks, and employment drug screen. 
  • Preferred:
    • Experience facilitating groups in SUD, IOP/PHP, residential, or MAT settings.

Schedule: Part time, between the hours of  8:30a-5p
