Our talented staff of more than 650+ professionals deliver integrated planning, design, engineering and construction solutions.
Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Civil Project Manager (Residential) to assist with our projects in Columbus! 

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Manage comprehensive civil engineering design for large residential developments, including: Master planning, lot layout, road networks, open-space design
  1. Grading and earthwork balancing
  2. Sanitary, storm, and water utility design
  3. Stormwater management and detention/retention systems
  • Lead project planning including scope, schedule, resourcing, and budget management.
  • Oversee preparation of construction drawings, engineering reports, and permitting packages.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to local and MSG standards as well as client expectations.

Client Engagement & Business Development
  • Serve as primary client contact for residential developers, builders, and landowners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regional and national homebuilders.
  • Present project deliverables to clients, regulatory agencies, and municipal authorities.
  • Participate in proposal preparation, project interviews, and business development initiatives.

Regulatory & Permitting Coordination
  • Manage permitting and reviews with municipalities, local review agencies, and Ohio EPA.
  • Navigate zoning, entitlement processes, and early-stage land planning requirements.
  • Address comments from reviewing agencies and coordinate revisions with internal teams.

Construction Support
  • Oversee construction-phase services including: 
  1. Site visits
  2. Responding to RFIs
  3. Reviewing change orders
  4. Coordinating with contractors and field staff
  • Assist clients and contractors with resolving design or field issues to keep projects moving.

Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Direct and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary support from environmental, transportation, survey, construction and geotechnical groups.
  • Promote a collaborative, growth-focused team culture

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably in Ohio, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 8+ years of civil site development experience, with at least 2 years focused on residential land development.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D (alignments, corridors, grading, profiles, pipe networks).
  • Demonstrated experience managing clients, projects, budgets, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of local development codes, stormwater regulations, and residential design standards.

Preferred
  • Experience with large, multi-phase residential communities or master-planned developments.
  • Familiarity with Columbus-area permitting agencies and development processes.
  • Strong understanding of hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and stormwater best practices.
  • Experience in mentoring staff and leading internal design teams.
