Job description

About the Role:

The Commercial Sheet Metal Journeyman plays a critical role in the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of sheet metal systems within commercial construction projects. This position requires a deep understanding of sheet metal materials, tools, and techniques to ensure that all work meets industry standards and project specifications. The Journeyman will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other trades to deliver high-quality, durable, and efficient sheet metal solutions. Safety and precision are paramount, as the role involves working with heavy materials and complex systems in diverse commercial environments. Ultimately, the successful candidate will contribute to the timely and successful completion of projects across multiple locations including Chillicothe, Circleville, Columbus, and Lancaster.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited sheet metal apprenticeship program or equivalent experience as a journeyman.
  • Valid journeyman sheet metal license or certification as required by local or state regulations.
  • Proven experience in commercial sheet metal fabrication and installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards and practices related to sheet metal work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with HVAC ductwork installation and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with computerized sheet metal fabrication equipment and software.
  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety or NCCER certification.
  • Experience working in multiple commercial construction environments across different locations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to layout, fabricate, and install sheet metal components.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and assemble sheet metal parts using hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
  • Install ductwork, flashing, siding, and other sheet metal products in commercial buildings according to project requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing sheet metal installations to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to plan work sequences and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and time spent on each project.
  • Adhere to all company and OSHA safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.
