We are seeking a Finance Officer to oversee all agency efforts that support the management and coordination of agency's financial activities to fund operations, maximize investments or increase efficiency programs/services, especially finance record-keeping. This position is supervised by the Executive Director and classified as exempt under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the overall financial operations of the agency as well as oversight of human resources related tasks
  • Prepare budgets for approval, including those for funding or implementation of programs
  • Prepare and deliver monthly, annual and quarterly financial report including all other reports as required by funders, i.e. USDA
  • Oversees the operations of payroll, run payroll reports from the database as needed, and serve as a backup for payroll and other related functions listed under the duties of the Bookkeeper & Human Resources Specialist
  • Reviews and monitors accounts payable transactions to ensure accurate account coding, appropriate documentation and expenses are allowable and charged appropriate grant/program
  • Serves as record keeper maintaining accurate bookkeeping and record keeping systems of any and all records relative to the financial transactions of the agency as well as human resources
  • Provides information required for all agency audits and monitoring
  • Maintain system of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the agency and oversee state and federal awards and programs

​​Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Business Administration and/or Accounting
  • Four years or more experience of proven ability
  • Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting preferred
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Strong integrity and accountability
  • Ability to handle pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have a valid VA driver's license
  • Employment is subject to a satisfactory pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
