The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Business Manager for its Talent Solutions Division to assist growing Virginia companies with their recruitment and training needs, including marketing, managing, and administering the Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP). This position will be based in Northern Virginia, but a considerable amount of travel throughout the northern Virginia region (including Winchester and Fredericksburg) as well as to Richmond will be required.
For more than two decades, VEDP has served as Virginia’s state economic development authority. Like the special Commonwealth that it serves, VEDP is regarded as among the best in the country. As a quasi-independent state authority governed by a board of directors that spans gubernatorial administrations, VEDP is a nonpartisan organization with stable leadership and nimble, creative, mission-focused operations. Candidates must possess considerable experience in project management, and developing and implementing marketing, recruiting, and workforce development plans. The Business Manager must be able to provide exemplary customer service to business client companies as well as workforce and local community partners. The Business Manager will communicate and facilitate relationships with primary workforce delivery partners in the region, including the Virginia Community College System and the regional Workforce Development Boards (Virginia Career Works). The candidate must be able to work both independently and as part of a high-performance work team to coordinate with other VEDP divisions, state and local economic developers, and representatives in all levels of higher education and K-12 academic communities.
The Business Manager must have excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Applicants must also have strong organizational skills and be able to plan and successfully manage multiple projects across a wide geographic area. Proficiency in using multiple PC software packages is required, including the Microsoft Office suite of products. Experience with Salesforce is a plus. Frequent travel, including overnight, is required. A valid driver’s license and passport are required. Undergraduate degree in marketing, business administration, economics or equivalent work experience is required.
Under Executive Directive #18, effective September 1, 2021, all employees must disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status to designated Human Resources personnel. If fully vaccinated, employees are required to submit vaccination documentation to designated Human Resources personnel. Those who are not fully vaccinated or have not disclosed their current vaccination status, must undergo weekly COVID-19 testing. All weekly testing results must be disclosed to designated Human Resources Personnel.
