Our Growing firm seeks an experienced Veterans Benefits Claims Examiner for our new Veterans Disability benefits practice.

Our Growing firm seeks an experienced full-time Veterans Benefits Claims Examiner to head up our new Veterans Disability benefits practice. Our clients are located across the United States.
Conduct initial interviews with prospective VA claimants to determine viability of the claim
Support the representation of clients in the prosecution of appeals before the VA Regional Office, BVA or the CAVC, including developing evidence and extensive research and drafting of appellate briefs and other substantive pleadings.
Develop the support for the representation of the veterans before Veterans Law Judges at the BVA and in appeals to the CAVC.
Maintain effective communication with represented clients through mail, telephone, and email.
Supervise and train the support team.
Assist with representation of clients at the Regional Office (RO) in filing original claims and appeals, and at the Decision Review Officer Hearings.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current veteran statutes, regulations, and case law through personal research and by attending training and seminars per year, subject to approval.
Experience in veterans benefits claims examination and at least 2 years working with VA disability benefits.
Applicants must possess legal research and writing experience and demonstrate excellent oral and written advocacy skills.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Preferred but not required:
Prior military experience.
Disabled veterans are encouraged to apply.
A law degree is preferred but not required.
Veterans legal clinic experience or experience handling VA claims or appeals is highly desired.
The applicant should possess a working knowledge of VA benefits (Title 38) and related laws, regulations and procedures, as well as a familiarity with Federal court veterans’ benefits jurisprudence and general administrative law. To the extent that these are not currently within the applicant’s knowledge, they will be expected to acquire such an understanding of VA law in short order.
