Fire Pump Field Service Technician - Wixom, Michigan

 

Underwood Fire Equipment is one of the leading fire suppression companies in the world. We are seeking to hire a field service technician to join our team. This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and completing maintenance on fire pump systems. Housekeeping and material handling are also components of this position. We are looking for a motivated, flexible, self-starter and team player.

Our ideal career candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Fluid water hydraulics; the affinity laws of fluid water hydraulics
  • Fire sprinkler or fluid piping systems
  • Mechanical systems and concepts: diesel engines, fuel systems, turbochargers, alternators, belts, pulleys, etc.
  • Heat loss and transfer: water pumps, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Electrical motors: bhp, odp, tefc, service factor, frame size, efficiency, rotors, stators, bearings, starting method
  • 1-phase, 3-phase, electrical wiring diagrams and high and low voltage control systems; 12 and 24 VDC, 110-120, 200-240, 440-480 vac
  • Ohm's law: voltage, amperage, and electrical resistance
  • Low voltage, communication, supervisory, or alarm circuits
  • Knowledge of tools and good with one's hands
  • Able to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements
  • Join pipes by using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent.
  • Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, pipes, airlines, gauges, and various pump-related systems.

  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing up and down ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to regularly lift and move 50 lbs. without assistance

  • Ability to operate and understand the operation of all protective safety equipment in the area

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25 per hour or more
