Position Description

The Database Administrator is responsible for designing and maintaining complex and large-scale database environments for new and existing applications. Responsibilities will also include partnering with infrastructure for patching, moving databases, backup & restore, provisioning, retiring, or otherwise maintaining the database environments.

The DBA will participate in establishing rules, standards, specifications, and nomenclature with regard to database development and design. In addition, the Database Administrator will have to build a vast understanding of the company’s databases, schemas, tables, stored procedures and other objects contained within for quick and easy locating of the data elements as needed. Participation in deployments, query optimization, and troubleshooting processes as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administers SQL Server databases
  • Database replication, back-ups, and restoration
  • Participates in database design
  • Develops and maintains database structures that utilize database architectural standards (normalized tables, primary keys, foreign keys, events, triggers, etc.)
  • Writes scripts to create, optimize, and maintain databases, tables, constraints, functions, stored procedures, indexes, and triggers
  • Supports and troubleshoots issues
  • Mentors and supports developers at all levels of the database development team
  • Additional duties as assigned

REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • College degree (or equivalent experience) in Applicable Technology
  • 5+ years of experience using SQL Server (development and DBA roles), SSRS, and SSIS
  • Analytic ability
  • Working knowledge of software versioning and revision control systems, preferably SVN
  • Strong communication skills
  • Motivated and positive attitude
