IMMEDIATE OPENING: Program Assistant
Part-time 25 hours per week
1:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Paid Hourly Rate $14.00

The U.S. Dream Academy is a national non-profit organization serving children, in an afterschool setting, whose parents are incarcerated and other at-risk children. Our mission is to empower children and maximize their potential by providing academic enrichment programs through supportive mentoring and the use of technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with the implementation of a daily curriculum which encompasses skill-building, character-building, and dream-building. Assist center staff with special projects. Lead children in character-building activities and dream-building activities. Assist children with completion of homework and other academic skill-building activities. Perform other programmatic and clerical related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent verbal and written communication, excellent ability to communicate with children, parents, school staff and other stakeholders, excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks, must have ability to quickly assess situations and make sound decisions, must be proficient in maintaining accurate filing and database systems, proficient knowledge of internet communications, proficient knowledge of academic software applications, must have an understanding of issues surrounding incarceration and the impact incarceration has on families.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have completed at least 2 years of college, must have 2-3 years experience working with at-risk youth, experience working in an academic environment is strongly desired. Knowledge of community relations and experience working in a non-profit environment is preferred.
