Summary The UA is an integral part of an underwriting team and is responsible for supporting and underwriting the book of business handled by the team. The UA will quote, decline, market and service products and brokers as directed by the lead underwriter on the team. In addition, the UA will manage all endorsements and other customer requests on behalf of the team. The UA is responsible to assist other underwriters and UA colleagues if needed. The UA also represents Topa at external functions, including but not limited to industry conventions, marketing visits, and other external events as needed.
Essential Job Functions Provide underwriting and service support for a book of business.
Support the underwriter in all facets of underwriting, workflow, and service including, but not limited to determining risk acceptability, pricing, coverage terms, evaluating submissions/renewals within guidelines.
Ensures documentation is accurate and completed within department guidelines
Expected attention to all submissions and broker requests within a specific timeframe.
Use technology to perform duties using the ImageRight workflows.
Provide excellent customer service including personal interaction via phone, email, and in person with brokers and other external professionals.
Act in accordance with the Core Values of Topa.
Keep abreast of industry and regulatory requirements in assigned areas of responsibility
Performs other duties as assigned
High School diploma or equivalent or relevant insurance coursework (INS 21, 22, 23, etc.).
Minimum 2 years relevant Property & Casualty experience.
Demonstrated sense of urgency around providing excellent customer service and appropriate attention to business matters.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to effectively interact with a range of personalities.
Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills to work in a high performance teams environment which values individual and team contribution
Demonstrated math skills to perform duties of assigned position.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency with computers and work productivity software.
Ability to travel overnight as needed.
