Prepares analyses of financial results, including profitability of current and future lines of business/programs. Participates in the evaluation of new business opportunities. Works with executive management in analyzing optimum capital allocation and return.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) financial reports. Financial reports to include balance sheets, income statements, cash flows, capital purchases and other key financial performance metrics.
Develop and maintains a financial reporting package to include variance analyses and key performance indicator tracking that identifies internal trends and provides information to assist senior leaders in decision making.
Collaborates in the preparation of materials for the Board of Directors and A.M. Best.
Monitor monthly cash flow forecasts and update for actual results.
Prepare analyses of the investment portfolio, as requested.
Evaluate financial reporting and enterprise software and make recommendations as to future enhancement or changes to meet Company needs.
Provide financial support for specialized contractual arrangements, evaluation of new opportunities and new management initiatives
Participate in corporate enterprise risk management initiatives
Special projects as assigned
Position may include direct supervisory responsibility
Provide leadership that promotes teamwork, teaches and coaches employees to help in their career development.
Thorough understanding of GAAP and SAP
Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software tools, to include prior experience with sophisticated Excel-based financial modeling.
Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills
Ability to extract data from diverse core systems and compile for analysis
Working knowledge of general ledger, insurance accounting, income tax and banking.
Understanding of enterprise risk management and capital management
Ability to effectively interface at all levels of the organization. Strong interpersonal skills.
Comfort working in a dynamic and ambiguous environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Good process management skills; ability to visualize then implement effective/efficientprocesses/solutions to existing and new challenges.
Ability to work effectively with senior management to define goals and understand business needs.
Must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other Business-related field.
Advanced degree or certification preferred.
8+ years accounting/financial analysis experience, with working knowledge in the property/casualty insurance industry.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
