The Journal Media Solutions Group is the most respected and trusted source for local news, events and advertising in Monmouth County. Producing 5 print and digital monthly issues and now offering the local marketers digital audience extensions. With a history of 20 successful years in the business, The Journal is growing and seeking an experienced Sales Representative to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter, with a positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and in a team setting to exceed monthly and yearly objectives. The Sales Representative will be responsible for new business development, selling print and digital packages (with supplemental social media components), and will report directly to both the Director of Digital and the V.P. of Sales. Attractive salary base and aggressive commission schedule.
· Lead generation and prospecting new business (cold calling, appointments, networking)
· Excellent customer service for personal accounts (inquiries, follow-up, obtaining and verifying ad copy, collecting payments)
· Develop and maintain effective relationships in the communities we serve
· Develop understanding of the industry and competitive local marketplace
· Maintain effective and timely communications with management, and inputting ongoing updates of sales initiatives
· Attend networking events (some after hours)
· Flexibility to work virtually and must attend in-person regular weekly sales meetings and any other additional required in-person meetings
· Meet and exceed sales goals
· Prior print and digital sales experience required, must have a minimum of 1 year digital sales experience
· Community-oriented, with local contacts and connections within our coverage area a plus
· Strong communication skills (telephone, in person, and written)
· Ability to use a consultative sales approach
· Proficiency in selling multiple properties and platforms (digital and print) at once
· Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, CRMS Platforms)
· Deadline- and detail-oriented with ability to adhere to demanding sales closings and production schedules
· Positive attitude and interpersonal skills
· Self-starter with strong work ethic, punctuality, accuracy, and accountability
· Team player
