The PURCHASING MANAGER must have excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail and problem-solving. This role requires in-depth knowledge of supply chain and budgeting processes supporting all departments by providing timely and cost-effective access to the materials they need.
Job functions for the PURCHASING MANAGER position include, but are not be limited to:
Define and execute material process improvements to support business goals with emphasis on supplier management, on-time delivery, inventory turns, inventory accuracy, waste reduction, and cost.
Identify, manage and problem-solve material availability issues to prevent expediting costs and inventory outages.
Manage supplier relationships in conjunction with business stakeholders by controlling costs and quality while driving innovation, service levels and mitigating risks.
Maintain and enforce supplier contracts – rate, assess and monitor as well as lead supplier development for poor and under-performing suppliers.
Review supplier lead times and maintain safety stock programs to meet specified inventory targets for proper inventory management.
Participate in the design and management of inventory replenishment models, storage locations, cycle counts, reconciliation and overall efficiencies in material requirements and usage using lean methodologies
Synchronize material flow to production.
To be considered for the PURCHASING MANAGER position, candidates should meet the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement, inventory management or operations in a lean manufacturing environment.
High SKU background in textile or Tier 1 automotive manufacturing
Minimum 3 years materials management/ supervisory experience with notable delivery of performance improvements.
Solid understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems.
Demonstrate strong analytical, technical and problem-solving characteristics.
Experience in Lean, Kanban and various continuous improvement initiatives.
Possess strong leadership and team-building motivational approach.
Ability to train, guide and communicate effectively demonstrating excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
Proficient in Word, Excel (pivot tables. Etc...) and performing queries in ERP systems.
APICS or ISM Certification a plus.
