Description: Given the school’s recent opening of the Hugh K. Schilling Math and Science Center, a $25 million dollar facility which provides distinctive, state-of-the-art resources for math, science, computer science, robotics, and engineering, this is an exceptional opportunity for any teacher looking to help grow and shape a dynamic program.
This is a one-year, full-time leave replacement position beginning in mid-August, 2020 and ending in June of 2021. We seek a candidate who has a demonstrated passion for working with adolescents and a drive to understand and support the emotional, social, and academic needs of students in a program where self-reflection, empathy, and flexibility are the goals. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Candidates should support the mission of SPA, the vision of the Upper School, and be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm.
Desired Qualifications: Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in biology or a related field and should have experience teaching science in a student-centered classroom at the secondary school level, including second-level biology electives. Successful experience with a collaborative team teaching model is preferred. All teachers serve as student advisors at the Upper School.
