St. Croix Regional Medical Center is currently seeking a 1.0 FTE (80 hours bi-weekly) Charge Audit Analyst. Working shifts for this opportunity will be Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
This position is located on-site in St. Croix Falls, WI.
TheCharge Audit Analyst is responsible for the maintenance and audit functions of a standard, system focused, Charge Description Master (CDM) for St. Croix RegionalMedical Center. This position will deliver, audit, monitor, and maintain a consistent and accurate CDM that is compliant with regulatory agencies.The Charge Audit Analystwill also provide education and support to clinical departments and hospital staff in regard to charge capture, based on audit findings and regulatory changes.
Charge Audit AnalystEssential Duties:
Audits charges being captured by clinical departments for accuracy and completeness. Ensures charges are crossing to the bill as intended.
Works in collaboration with leadership, identifies, and implements best practices of charge capture.
Monitors government and commercial payers for updates and changes to billing requirements.Communicates and educates clinical and administrative staff on any actions required to comply with new regulations.
Responsible for the training of hospital departments regarding compliant charge practice; annual CPT/HCPCS code updates; and charge capture improvement.
Performs root cause analysis for system related charge capture failures. Works in collaboration with Excellian IT support and department staff to ensure charge capture functionality is optimized and efficient.
Servesas subject matter expertrelated to charging billing issues and assists in developing and maintaining revenue capture related policies and procedures.
Qualifications of the Charge Audit Analyst:
Education & Licensure:
Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Health Information, Nursing or related fieldOR 3 years direct chargemaster experience required
Certified coder preferred
Minimum five years health care with three years charge master, billing, or coding experience required
Experience with chargemaster maintenance or proficient knowledge of chargemaster components (CPT, HCPCS, Rev Codes)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of CPT-HCPCS, third party reimbursement methodologies, and revenue cycle process
Thorough understanding of the CDM relationship to general ledger, cost accounting, cost reporting, budget, coding, billing and compliance in a hospital setting
Expert knowledge of inpatient and outpatient billing requirements, coding guidelines and CMS Medicare reimbursement methodology
Must be flexible and be able to adjust in changing environments
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interpret, communicate, and educate others
Strong quantitative, analytical and organizational skills
Ability to respond to complex inquiries in a professional and efficient manner
Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
