Accounting Assistant

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Fluent Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable process
• Knowledge of Canada's provincial sales taxes
• Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures
• Following up on outstanding payments on a weekly basis
• Assist with general accounting duties
• Maintain document hard copy and electronic filing systems
• Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
• Management of internal documentation and monitor for accuracy
• Understand internal policies, procedures and practices
• Carry out routine duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision
• Establish work priorities as required for the operation
• Ensure and enforce compliance to all company legislated policies and procedures
• Any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience

• Minimum of two (2) year experience in an Accounting/Finance office environment
• High school or equivalent (Required)
• Proficiency with computers and relevant software applications – Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of general accounting principles
• Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
• Completion of college Accounting or other Business Administration an asset, but not necessary
• Hands-on experience with Quickbooks an Asset
• Experience in the Transport industry an Asset
