Purpose of the Position:Primary function is support the server in all aspects by; stocking all service areas and maintaining adequate supplies during meal period, cleaning and presetting all tables; assisting with service of beverages, transportation of food trays to dining room and cleaning all of public areas.


  • Promptly, courteously and warmly greet guests while serving water, calling them by name whenever possible
  • Assist server by refilling guest's beverages and accommodating request for additional condiments, bread or clean silverware etc.
  • Accurately set-up tables before opening, according to prescribed hotel requirements and layout
  • Promptly stock and maintain service stations with the proper supplies before, during and after each shift
  • Promptly and quietly clear and reset used tables
  • Promptly and quietly remove soiled plates, silverware etc. from service areas and tables to dish wash area
  • Assist servers in the delivery of orders and pre-bussing tables
  • Make sure floor surfaces are free of debris during and after each shift
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitary conditions of dining room and service areas
  • Declare tips according to the IRS standards
  • Do all necessary set-up side work as per side work schedule
  • Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow employees.
  • Keep all tables and chairs clean and presentable at all times
  • Report any problems that may occur with service or a guest complaint to management
  • Have complete knowledge of daily hotel events and hours of operation
  • Be familiar with hotel facilities and their location and hours of operation or where direct guest to find this information
  • Provide positive, professional guest contact
  • Ensure that proper communications take place between server and management
  • Assist or work in Room Service as business needs dictate

  • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area

  • Implement management company and hotel's safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e evacuation, first aid, etc) to include removing all safety hazards, following company's OSHA program, safe lifting techniques
  • Utilize protective equipment, when applicable
  • Promptly report substandard ( unsafe ) conditions to Supervisor
  • Promptly report accidents, injuries, property damage or loss to Supervisor
  • Keeps accurate communication flowing freely among all hotel departments
  • Inform management promptly of any work-related problems or guest complaints
  • Practice 'CARE hospitality 'and provide guest satisfaction
  • Promote the hotel through goodwill, courtesy and a positive attitude
  • Attend all schedule training classes and meetings
  • Train other employees as directed by management
  • Continue to learn and grow in your position
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management
  • Arrange for reasonable accommodations for person (s) with disabilities
  • Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws ordinances as they apply to the hotel, guest and employees
  • Respond properly to irritated or angry guests
  • Immediately clean all spills

  • Know and follow all sanitation procedures
  • Assist other servers when need

  • Basic knowledge of restaurant operations including table settings and silverware preferred
  • Flexible enough to work any shift including evenings, weekends and holidays


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous Dining room attendant/Bus person experience preferred but not required


  • Able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal form with guests and employees so as to respond accurately and completely to people to give directions, instructions, information, answer questions and provide service as required


  • Basic mathematics skill required


  • Memorize the guest and servers request, specials of the day and special promotions


  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 35 pounds repetitively during entire shift
  • Ability to stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping
  • Ability to move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors
