The Systems Release Engineer is responsible for supporting the configuration management phases of the System Development Lifecycle. This individual will work as a member of a release team that is responsible for delivering defect free software and system upgrades to the Production environment in a consistent and repeatable manner.

· Create and validate test environments to support the SDLC

· Install and smoke test new software packages delivered from the Engineering Department

· Communicate effectively with quality assurance, software development, project management and operations team members

· Support all security and compliance initiatives required within the SDLC

· Contribute to system standard development and documentation

· Perform system upgrades during off-hours maintenance windows

· Owns the Release Schedule from an Environment readiness, availability, and rollout perspective

o Chairs the weekly Release Planning (“NRA”)

o Works with Operations and Engineering team to gather environment readiness requirements

o Maintains and publish weekly schedule of release tasks and milestones

§ RC installs into System Integration

§ Tasks on System Integration (includes QA, Security, Rollbacks, Documentation Tasks, Training Tasks)

§ Gold installs into Staging/Production (same concept on tasks)

· Owns the Integrity and Completeness of the Build Sheet

o Identify and track the gaps in the build sheets (acts as Project Manager and Schedule Manager)

o Works with Operations and Engineering on content production and resolution

o Ensures build sheets are 100% complete

· Owns the Planning and Readiness of Hardware/VM Dependencies

o Owns the scalability and growth plan of the production/staging and Engineering VM environments

§ Documenting current capacity

§ Create/Manage growth plan for future capacity and plan to grow that capacity

o Owns the storage management plans to ensure space growth plans are in place and followed

o Owns documentation around physical server architecture, network topology, etc...

Required Technical Skills:

· Demonstrated experience deploying complex systems in a medium sized VmWare environment

· Solid understanding of Windows server operating systems and supporting services

· Familiarity with SQL and Java applications

· Knowledge of ColdFusion, IIS, Apache, and general web server technology

· TCP/UDP communications

Required Background:

· Bachelor’s degree Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

· 2+ years experience managing software releases to QA, Staging, and Production environments

· Experience with a variety of SDLC methodologies

· Understanding of information security and compliance regulations

· Certification preferred but not required
