a. Assist with troubles for managed networks, Broadband access (DSL), VOIP, card access and other data network troubles adhering to Shentel’s Network Trouble Reporting Procedure.
b. Assist with executing network equipment upgrades.
c. Review and complete daily work requests and service orders associated with data network core infrastructure, optical equipment, routers, switches and complex customer configurations.
d. Install, configure, and test Data Network hardware and software.
e. Perform and/or assist with software upgrades on data network equipment.
f. Troubleshoot data network problems.
g. Perform weekly and monthly back-ups.
h. Perform preventive maintenance routines.
i. Support Tier 1 and Tier 2 Technical Support.
j. Support after hours network troubleshooting.
k. Evaluate network needs and help determine appropriate hardware and/or software upgrades, changes, and/or replacements.
l. Assist with the installation of new and proposed data, storage, and telecommunication applications.
m. Responsible for following, supporting, and enforcing all internal control processes and procedures.
a. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. BS Computer Science preferred.
b. Experience: Minimum two years networking/telephony experience or equivalent as well as experience with common Data Network components including routers, switches, modems.
c. Skills Summary: Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to understand complex relationships between components. Good problem solving skills for hardware and software related issues.
d. Licenses or Certifications: Valid driver’s license
e. Special Requirements: Participate in on-call rotation, must be able to lift 50 pounds.
f. Cisco CCNA preferred
