Starting Salary - $15 to $30 per hour (depending on experience and education)
We are a small CPA firm seeking to hire an experienced accountant for a full time position. (or part time position if we are unable to find a qualified applicant). A minimum of three to five years of experience in public accounting and a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance and/or related field is required. A CPA certificate would also be a plus. A highly proficient person in the areas discussed, without a degree, may be considered. Applicant must be able to work independently. We are looking someone who is detail and deadline-oriented and who has strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Extensive knowledge of the construction industry, experience and extensive knowledge in the preparation of individual, S corporation, and partnership tax returns is required. Tax work is primarily related to individual taxes, S corporations and partnerships, but some knowledge of C corporation taxation, multi-state individual taxation, exempt organization taxation, and trust and estate taxation is also needed. The applicant must be able to perform tax research. Duties will also encompass taking client prepared books and making appropriate journal entry adjustments, some of which may be quite complicated. Applicants must possess the ability to prepare adjusting journal entries and assist clients with reconciliations (for bank accounts, credit cards payable, accounts payable, note payable, etc.), prepare quarterly payroll tax returns and client payroll, sales and use tax returns, scrap tire disposal tax returns, prepared food and beverage tax returns, and monthly compilations/write ups. Experience in Quickbooks, Proseries Tax software, and Microsoft Office programs are preferred. Possessing computer knowledge and an understanding of Microsoft Windows is required.
Duties will also include helping on non-tax work, such as GAAP audits and SSARS engagements, but no expertise in this area is required. Some knowledge of governmental accounting is preferred.
The applicant will be responsible for executing all matters relating to the administrative functions (i.e., front office/clerical may be needed depending on the qualifications of the applicant).
This position is intended to be a full time position; however, should we be unable to find a fully qualified applicant, we may consider a part time position for receptionist, clerical, bookkeeping, payroll, payroll tax, and similar duties.
Initially, this position is planned to be an hourly rate position without benefits except that the applicant will qualify for the Simplified Employee Pension plan and a health insurance stipend when the plan requirements are met.
