Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller – SCG Development

The company is looking for enthusiastic, driven, and organized candidates who are motivated to grow and succeed. The position requires the candidate to be organized, able to handle multiple priorities and work independently.
Scope of Position
This position is responsible for all aspects of development project accounting and is the primary liaison to the controller and project managers. The position is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of development sources and uses spreadsheets; initial set-up, monthly and annual reconciliations of the development general ledger accounts; oversite of development project invoicing, draws and payables; recordation of purchase loan and escrow closings; cost certifications and audit prep. Advises on lender and audit compliance requirements and financial performance. Works closely with the Asset Manager, Property Accountants and Property Management department as real estate development projects transition to operations.

The Accounting Manager/ Assistant Controller is responsible for:

• Financial management – records journal entries for all acquisitions, construction, and loan closings. Oversees cash flow for all development project sources. Makes payments to development vendors.
• Cash Management – provides Controller with pre-development and development cash requirements. Monitors budget to actual on pre-development spending.
• Financial reporting – prepare monthly financial statements.
• Internal Reporting – Assist in the creation and maintenance of internal reporting for projects.
• Audits and Taxes – responsible for providing financial information to outside accounting firms on a timely basis; issuing 1099s.
• Presentation materials – create investment decks and bank packages to solicit lenders and tax credit providers.
o Flexibility/Initiative – take up tasks outside of normal job description requirement to add value to the company and to promote personal growth.
This position will involve aligning processes, systems to ensure that the organization meets its objectives for efficiency. The position interacts with all levels of the organization as well as with various outside parties to ensure the smooth operation of the company.

Preferred Experience / Education
The following indicates specific industry, academic and functional experience/qualifications that are important to the successful achievement of the identified responsibilities.
• Undergraduate degree in accounting – achievement of the C.P.A. designation is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal correspondence.
• Experience with cloud-based software packages.
• Intermediate to Advanced experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Organized and meticulous.
• Commercial real estate industry is a plus.
• Experience with partnership agreements and partnership accounting
