Smith Bros. & Wilson (B.C.) Ltd. is hiring for high priority Project Coordinator positions!

Position: Project Coordinator

Location: Lower Mainland (office and on site)

Primary Purpose:

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator’s role is to support and assist the project team in all coordination aspects of the construction of projects including:

  • Document Control
  • Cost Control
  • Scheduling
  • Subtrade Coordination
  • Quality Control
  • RFI & Shop Drawing Control

Major Areas of Responsibility:


  • Support the project team to achieve the project budget, scope, and schedule
  • Collaborate with global project team
  • Manage changes (scope, drawings, Trades, staff, material, etc.) effectively
  • Organize and attend (often Chairing) Site Meetings
  • Understand SBW’s operating policies and practices and applying them appropriately
  • Maintain SBW and OH&S standards in all aspects of each project

Document Control

  • Manage all drawings, drawing records and revisions.
  • Manage all Requests for Information (RFI’s), Shop Drawings/Submittal Schedules, Field Instructions, Site Instructions, Change Orders, QA/QC documentation
  • Maintain records of all tests and inspections
  • Record and distribute Meeting Minutes
  • Manage safety documentation
  • Coordinate & compile Operation & Maintenance Manuals at project close out

Cost Control

  • Work with the PM & assist in the cost reporting process for all project components
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly labour, equipment, material and subtrade costs
  • Monitor Subtrade/Supplier invoicing and review with the PM on a regular basis
  • Monitor project progress, costs and budgets throughout the project life using Procore
  • Compile/coordinate/estimate Change Orders
  • Material procurement and Purchase Orders
  • Collect Time & Material sheets when applicable


  • Together with the PM & Superintendent, review project Schedule and monitor on an ongoing basis

Subtrade Coordination

  • Assist the PM with the creation/distribution of subcontracts
  • LEED Coordination

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Fluent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Proficient problem solving and organization skills
  • Great interpersonal skills.
  • LEED AP or GA certification, or experience an asset
  • QA/QC Management
  • Knowledge of Contract Law and Lien Legislation
  • Insurance and bonding
  • For entry level PC: 0-2 years of experience in a construction environment
  • For intermediate PC: 2-5 years of experience in a construction environment

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
  • Proficient with project management software (i.e. Procore)
  • Proficient with scheduling software (i.e. Primavera P6, MS Project)
  • Familiarity with health and safety management software (i.e. Safety Sync / WorkHub)

Educational Background:

  • Post-Secondary: 2 years minimum technical school diploma or university degree in construction management/engineering or applicable field
  • Previous Practicum / work terms with General Contractors
