Provides general technical support (hardware & software) for Windows-based desktops and laptops; supports peripheral devices as well (i.e., printers, copiers, faxes). Performs basic user and computer account administration within Active Directory. Primary Help Desk support for Waltham; backup support for all other locations. Additionally provides basic phone administration support.

Specific responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for clients via helpdesk for Windows Operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 7) as well as company standard desktop applications (MS Office, McAfee Antivirus, WinZip, etc)
  • Build, configure and install new desktops and laptops (Windows 7)
  • Perform daily and weekly Veritas Tape Backups; monitor status of backups, escalate issues to Senior staff as necessary
  • Research patches, updates and solutions for fundamental PC issues (hardware and software-related)
  • Order desktop & peripheral hardware & software from approved vendors
  • Install desktop application software as needed
  • Apply diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes and recommend solutions to correct common failures
  • Provide technical support for desktop phones
  • Update Service Center inventory records for desktop, laptops and monitors
  • Perform basic user account administration in Active Directory
  • Maintains computer accounts within Active Directory
  • Provide software & hardware quotes to support end-users
  • Perform basic phone (Avaya) & voicemail (Modular Messaging) administration (adds, removes and changes)
  • Support for Corporate Blackberry users
