SUMMARY:

The Supplier Quality Manager provides guidance to a team of Supplier Quality Engineers and fosters the development of SDIABS supplier quality activities to ensure that suppliers' production, quality systems, special processes, products and services meet purchase contract requirements along with meeting the expectations of internal and external stakeholders. The SQ Manager will manage resources and lead process improvements. Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, suppliers and direct reports. Manages, develops and motivates employees.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, mentor and develop direct staff that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements by reviewing department KPI’s and providing consistent and actionable feedback.
  • Provide oversight for supplier management related activities and build strong internal and external relationships to ensure optimal performance.
  • Coordinate and leverage global supplier quality best practices internally and to tier N suppliers ensuring KPI’s and deliverables are met.
  • Improve and manage supplier quality rating methodology for supplier scorecards and KPI’s.
  • Define, coordinate and implement strategies to support continuous improvement and development for underperforming suppliers’ processes, controls and measurement systems to ensure incoming product quality.
  • Develop and implement a supplier audit plan that includes self/onsite assessments, certification renewals, etc. to monitor adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and continuously improve SDIABS supplier quality manual.
  • Work closely with product engineering[FO1] and suppliers during development (DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP) activities and as related to changes to production part numbers.
  • Participate in supplier sourcing/onboarding process, including evaluation of the new supplier source, oversight of production readiness from a quality standpoint, and approval of PPAP exercises in accordance with SDIABS requirements.
  • Support the change management[FO2] process, ensuring that supplier quality is not detrimentally impacted.
  • Support activities toward overall cost reduction without compromise to quality.
  • Undertake personal continuous improvement training and development.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field preferred, with understanding of AIAG PPAP requirements.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in quality engineering, project/program management or equivalent.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative capabilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint Understanding of disciplined root cause analysis procedures. (ex 8D, 3L5Y, Ishikawa, DMAIC)
  • Independent, systematic and process-oriented work, high operational readiness and sense of responsibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for potentially working with customer representatives.
