“This is a position with great potential for the right candidate!”
Portland Monthly News Editor
Portland Monthly magazine is seeking a dogged, passionate, sharp-witted journalist for an opening in the position of News Editor on our Editorial Team in Portland, Oregon. The News Editor will join our team to oversee the magazine’s lively front-of-book Dispatch section, which encompasses news, business, civics, social justice reporting, and more. Plus, you’ll write and edit narrative features, helm research projects, and contribute content for our online platforms. As a senior member of the editorial staff, you will help shape the tone and content of the magazine; underscoring its mission to delight, inform, and challenge readers every issue. The ideal candidate is a reporter first, with a genuine passion for illuminating how the city works—politically, economically, and demographically—and should possess a deep curiosity about institutions, nonprofits, and businesses that help support and move it forward. The person we’re looking for rejects tiresome Portlandia stereotypes and wants to explore all of the people and cultures that call our fast-changing city home.
