· Provide ProEngineer CAD design engineering expertise for new and existing Rittal NPI
customer and standards project requirements
· Provide timely support for customer project engineering requirements
· Provide standard product and/or customer specific Modified Standard “specials’
mechanical detail design and documentation support
· Enclosure packaging design
· Enclosure accessory design
· Ensure complete 2D and 3D documentation and design support for ongoing customer
and standard product RandD designs
· Create and maintain 3D ProSheetmetal product design modeling
· Create and maintain 2D ProEngineer and AutoCAD component and assembly documentation
· Create and maintain Material Master and Bill of Materials
· Create and coordinate implementation of all ECN initial release or change documentation.
· Provide engineering product support, including:
o Technical project management
o Off-load project and product build support
o Prototype build coordination
o Outsource vendor selection and project coordination
o Product cost analysis
· Provide customer technical solutions based proposals and customer visit
presentations when required
· Provide continuous improvement feedback to ensure Rittal quality and performance. Support implementation of Rittal Production System
· Other duties as assigned
Requires long durations on the manufacturing floor and/or long durations in the office at a computer. Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the work shift. Occasionally lift up to 25 – 50 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above the shoulders.
Work in a fast paced environment, adapt to assignment changes easily, ability to multi-task, learn office procedures and learn and use new software. Must be detail oriented; communicate effectively via oral and written communications with all levels of employees, customers and vendors. Ability to work through issues and seek answers to new requirements. Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Wear safety-toed footwear, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection and additional personal protective equipment where required.
Direction and Decision Making:
Complete directives given either verbally or written, make and assist in determining logical decisions.
Knowledge and Experience:
4-year Mechanical Engineering Technology or BSME degree with 2 years minimum product design experience or a 2-year AS Mechanical Engineering Technology degree with 6 years minimum product design experience. Experience with 3D solid and 2D CAD engineering design tools, ProEngineer, Wildfire 3, Sheet Metal, AutoCAD 2D and Mechanical FEM desirable. Experience with enclosure fabrication and assembly production methods preferred. Experience with CNC sheet metal in steel/aluminum, metric units, MIG and TIG welding, powder coat, e-coat and other metal finishing processes. Knowledge and experience with enclosure product engineering requirements preferred. Knowledge of industry regulatory requirements such as UL/CE/NEC/VDE and performance measures such as NEMA/IEC/ANSI. Experience with ECN processes and creation of SAP/AS400 material master and BOM creation in MRP software. Experience with ISO 9001 documentation. Working knowledge of Windows XP and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Experience with Electronic Data Transfer techniques (IGS, DXF) and Data File Transfer techniques (FTP, Internet).
Must work in both office and plant floor environment.
