Quantum Circuits, Inc. is on a mission to transform quantum computation into a powerful platform that will solve the world’s most challenging problems. We founded QCI in 2015 as spin out from the world-leading research labs of Professors Rob Schoelkopf and Michel Devoret at Yale University.

In September 2017, we completed an $18 million Series A venture capital round, co-led by Canaan Partners and Sequoia Capital. We are bringing to market the first practical and useful quantum computers, based on superconducting quantum circuit elements. These machines will solve problems that are intractable with today’s high-performance computing technology.

Our modular approach focuses on scaling up a network of simple yet powerful quantum building blocks that take advantage of a hardware-efficient approach, placing us at the forefront of solving challenges like error correction head-on. In parallel with our industry-leading quantum hardware, we are continuing to build upon our current generation of the entire quantum stack, in which software, control electronics, and algorithms development all play an integral role.

As a QCI software engineer, these are the kinds of projects you’d be working on:

  • Developing high-level function libraries that interface with low-level hardware, using languages such as Python and C++.
  • Developing modeling, testing, and validation tools in languages like Python.
  • Leveraging existing software tools such as HFSS and Solidworks to model classical electromagnetic and physical properties of hardware elements.
  • Using quantum simulation packages, such as QuTip in Python, to model open quantum systems.
  • Interfacing with an interdisciplinary team to execute QCI’s vision for the quantum stack, and contribute to its successful deployment as a platform for quantum computation.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Fluency in Python and C++.
  • Extensive experience in managing large-scale software projects and code repositories.
  • Extensive experience in developing modeling tools, compilers, and assemblers.
  • Degrees in computer science or physics preferred.
  • A background in quantum physics, and quantum computing in particular, are preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team with professionals from other fields of physics and engineering.
