1. Description
Plan, direct, or coordinate medical and health services in hospitals, clinics, managed care organizations, public health agencies, or similar organizations.
2. Tasks
a. Conduct and administer fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, establishing rates for services, and coordinating financial reporting
b. Direct, supervise and evaluate work activites or medical, nursing, technical, clerical, service, maintenance, and other personnel
c. Maintain communication between governing boards, medical staff, and departments heads by attending board meetings and coordinating interdepartmental functioning
d. Review and analyze facility activities and data to aid planning and risk management to improve service utilization
e. Plan, implement, and administer programs and services in a healthcare or medical facility, including personnel administration, training, and coordination or medical, nursing and physical plant staff
f. Direct or conduct recruitment, hiring and training of personnel
g. Establish work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space, and equipment availability
h. Maintain awareness of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and financing options
i. Monitor the use of diagnostic services, inpatient beds, facilities, and staff to ensure effective use of resources and asses the need for additional staff, equipment, and services
