The GIS Assistant will support the efforts of the GIS team and support in the development of utility-scale solar projects across a variety of markets in the U.S. The GIS assistant will assist in gathering, researching, updating and analyzing GIS data as well as preparing maps and other GIS deliverables. for internal and external use. This individual will work closely with functional teams to deliver GIS services with a sense of urgency, strong communication and emphasis on teamwork.
This is a full-time temporary position not to exceed 6 months.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist GIS team in environmental data collection and processing using multiple data sources
Assist GIS team in maintenance and update of GIS databases and map deliverables
Assist with geo-referencing of raster and vector data
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of GIS and geographic principles
Solid experience using ESRI ArcMap 10.6& Google Earth Pro
Working knowledge of GIS county, municipal or regional government databases
Ability to gather, develop, maintain, analyze and manipulate spatial and non-spatial data
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Great attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Experience using ESRI ArcGIS Pro a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMAND:
May require lifting/carrying items up to 30 pounds.
Travel up to 25%.
Position works in an office environment.
Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer, for extended periods of time.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree or Certification in Geography, GIS, Cartography, Computer Science, or related discipline required.
Graduation from high school or equivalent of technical or paraprofessional experience in the use of GIS technology
