TITLE: FACILITIES Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Administration and Human Resources

OBJECTIVE: Facilitate and maintain the safe, clean, cost effective use and care of the Parish facilities and grounds. Supervise the maintenance and custodial staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform ongoing maintenance, inspections, cleaning and safety requirements for the parish facilities.

  2. Maintains grounds including but not limited to lawn care, snow removal, hazard identification reporting and abatement.

  3. Supervise maintenance staff and outside repairmen and contractors. This includes cleaning subcontractors.

  4. Supervise contractors in small construction/improvement projects.

  5. Daily monitoring of the facility schedule and special events planning for the day's activities, possible changes and response with little or no notice.

  6. Daily contact with the Principal of OLGC School to review daily work in school and to prioritize work issues.

  7. Serve as member of school/church security/safety team for fire and other safety drills. Serve as key manager.

  8. Collaborate with parish priests, staff members and volunteers concerning maintenance issues.

  9. Responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of facilities as defined under the Preventative Maintenance Program and as directed by the Director of Administration.

  10. Perform all duties related to work area repair and remodeling, including moving furniture and fixtures as needed.

  11. Perform repairs and maintenance including, but not limited to: painting, carpentry, furniture and equipment repair and assembly; repair/replacement of locks, lockers, windows, window blinds, fixtures, doors and hinges, and any other items as requested.

  12. Perform electrical repairs and maintenance including, but not limited to: removal and/or installation of single-phase electric motors; test and replace electrical outlets; reset breakers; replace fuses, light bulbs, tubes, ballasts, etc.

  13. Perform plumbing repairs, maintenance, and clean-up.

  14. Perform general grounds work, including trash removal, lawn mowing, tree, shrub and flower pruning; snow and ice removal, etc.

  15. Manage all repair and maintenance contractors working onsite. Notify both Director of Administration and the Principal of who is on campus.

  16. Attend all Parish Staff Meetings.

  17. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Administration and Human Resources

REQUIREMENTS:

Basic mechanical aptitude to repair, replace or identify problems and proactive preventative maintenance for systems and buildings including electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling, boilers, security systems, elevator and sprinkler systems.

Ability to schedule, organize and prioritize tasks and time as needed for self, subordinates and contractors.

Ability to work holidays, weekends and evenings as needed and in a variety of inclement to hazardous weather conditions and church emergencies.

This position is an essential position with 40 scheduled hours. The job may require some overtime and will be required to be on-call for emergencies outside of normal work hours.

Maintain and honor confidentiality of Priests, Staff, Families and Students.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.

  2. Valid state driver's license with no more than 3 points.

  3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in skilled and basic maintenance work for professional facilities.

  4. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in carpentry, electrical work and repair, cement work, painting and minor drywall repair, plumbing, sanitation, and basic mechanics.

  5. Must be able to move and lift materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.

  6. Previous Training in HVAC systems – CFC license is desired.

  7. Previous training and experience in modern Boiler equipment.

  8. Experience in managing other maintenance and contractor staff.

  9. Experience with Maintenance scheduling systems is a plus.

  10. Experience in Parish (Church and School) operations is a plus.
