If so, Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) has a job opportunity for you. We are hiring a printing Production Coordinator to work at Oregon State Correctional Institution in Salem, Oregon.

Our Print Shop Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and processing a variety of print orders within a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the Production Coordinator must provide world-class customer service, strategies and technical solutions in accordance to our client's needs. The successful individual will be a team player who excels at working as an individual contributor in the quickly growing print market as well as possess a balance of production experience coupled with supervisory, modeling, coaching, and training skills to work effectively in a correctional environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Production Coordinator is responsible for interpreting and verifying the customer's project details and preparing that information in the form of a job order for use in production, determining the schedule, following the orders through production, through storage or distribution and then closing the order and providing accurate information for timely billing.

  • Oversight of the prepress, press, bindery, and mail departments
  • Perform and oversight of the daily production activities
  • Journey level coordination, direction, and supervision of order taking, ticket building, billing, shipping and distribution.
  • Coordination of workflow to the inmates within the OCE Print Shop and Mailroom
  • Observing and supervising inmates in their work area
  • Lays out jobs and performs inspections of work in progress and inspects completed jobs.
  • Provides technical advice and makes estimates of time and material required
  • Responsible for actively marketing and creating sales for the Shop.
  • Troubleshoot job or machines for errors

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED & REQUESTED SKILLS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5-10 years of production experience in prepress technology and the software associated with the technology, digital press equipment operation (Ricoh digital presses are a plus). Offset press and/or post-press/bindery experience is desired
  • Keen vision or corrected eyesight; must pass internal color vision test

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Education

  • While not required, preference may be given to applicants who have a technical certification or degree in graphic design, printing, computers, Business Administration or a related field.

Physical Skills

  • Stand for long periods of time. Job entails physical activities of bending, reaching, twisting, flexing, lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lbs without assistive devices. Ability to walk combined distances up to 2-3 miles daily and climb stairs without assistive aids.
  • Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists.

Desired Knowledge & Skills

  • Preference may be given to applicants who can demonstrate experience, knowledge and/or skill in the following areas:
  • Strong experience with current color management standards and processes is desired
  • Strong knowledge of digital press operation and the ability to trouble shoot and work with vendor technicians to keep equipment operational in a busy work environment
  • Technical / Mechanical problem solving ability
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance measures
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs, with enfaces on Photo Shop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.). MS Access and/or Crystal Reports is a plus
  • Database skills a plus
  • Management Information System (MIS) experience is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must be able to work assigned overtime as needed
