The Open Markets Institute is a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit that works to address threats to democracy, individual liberties, and national security from today’s unprecedented levels of corporate concentration and monopoly power. Credited by the Financial Times as “driving the debate” around the resurgence of interest in antitrust, Open Markets uses research and journalism to expose the dangers of monopolization, identifies changes in policy and law to address them, and educates policymakers, academics, movement groups, and other influential stakeholders to re-establish the competitive markets that long formed the bedrock of American democracy.
Open Markets Institute is looking for a Senior Policy Analystwith an expertunderstanding of the health care industry, state and federal health care policy and reforms, and competition law and policy. A successful candidate also brings enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, start-up environment, a highly organized work style, and an affinity for building and maintaining networks to help advance ideas. Experience speaking to policymakers and the media is preferred.
Research and write about health care market structure and competition policy solutions for a range of audiences, including the general public, policymakers, and regulators.
Monitor and provide quick, accessible analysis ofpolicy and market developments affecting competition in the healthcare industry.
Help to educate policymakers by presenting at briefings and conferences and developing relationships with relevant staff.
Build networks among health care policy experts and advocates to help integrate competition policy approaches into the health care reform debate.
Occasionally organize public or private round tables and conferences.
Serve as a resource for health care beat reporters.
Bachelor’s degree required.
4 to 7 years of experience working in health care policy.
Strong knowledge base of competition law and policy.
Extremely strong writing skills.
Comfort with public speaking and experience interacting with reporters.
Have a passion for driving our anti-monopoly agenda forward and an eagerness to continue learning about antitrust and competition policy.
