Senior Buyer Purchasing MRO #2

This person can be located anyplace in the USA, but needs to be by a major airport...

MRO exepriance a huge plus.
Professional buyer with strong category market knowledge who understands market dynamics
and is capable of developing a buying strategy that creates leverage, takes advantage of
surpluses, or foresees shortages and builds inventory in advance. Individual needs strong
negotiation and contract experience, as well as strong skills to influence internal customers and
potential vendors.
Principle Accountability:
1. Research and understand applicable category market that results in the capability of
accurately predicting the category market 6-18 months in the future
2. Capable of navigating in the applicable category to obtain the optimum price
3. Develop strong relationships in the applicable category that will provide rapid
information on any changes within that market
4. Capable of putting together a purchasing strategy that leads to purchasing the product
at an optimum price
5. Effectively negotiate with vendors for an optimum price as well as terms for the sale
6. Develop effective relationships with plant and sales managers that result in productive
purchasing results with no adverse consequences to manufacturing and sales
7. Effectively communicate vertically and horizontally in the organization to achieve
desired results
Competencies:
1. Strategic thinking
2. Strong business acumen
3. Excellent communicator
4. Strong market knowledge of category
5. Strong negotiation skills
Education: College degree required - MBA would be a plus
Experience: 7-12 years of experience in Purchasing with at least 3 of those years in a strategic
purchasing position. Refining experience is a must
