Position: Full-Time Delivery Driver
Shifts to be assigned, will include weekends and early mornings.
Some holidays and evenings may also be required.
Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly

Reporting to the Director, Food Security Warehouse, the Driver will facilitate food rescue efforts and food distribution between farmers, food pantries, community kitchens and other locations across the Greater Kansas City region. This pivotal role will serve as the face of NourishKC, Kansas City Food Hub, Kanbe’s Market and other collaborating partners working to create a food secure region where everyone has access to the healthy food they need to survive and thrive.
The Driver will perform some or all of the following duties:
Food Distribution and Logistics
Deliver a wide variety of items to different addresses and through different routes within and outside Kansas City region.
Follow routes and time schedule.
Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate a delivery vehicle.
Complete logs and reports as assigned.
Monitor quality of donations, ensure food safety and organizational best practices are met.
Safety, Compliance and Maintenance
Follow all Department of Transportation regulations and safety standards.
Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements, including Food Safety & Sanitation.
Maintain cleanliness of delivery vehicles and other assigned organization property.
Maintain vehicle maintenance and mileage logs, reporting any work required to supervisor and arranging for service as needed.
Serve as primary day to day point of contact between farmers, restaurants, grocery stores, food pantries and other key partners across the entire food system.
Works in partnership with food rescue partners, outside agencies and collaboration partners to promote values and mission of NourishKC.
Ask for feedback on provided services and resolve food rescue and collaborative partners complaints.
Provide feedback and/or recommendations to immediate supervisor should you believe there may be a more efficient way of performing daily duties.
Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor which are consistent with the definition and intent of the job description.

High school diploma, GED.
Previous delivery experience, preferably in food industry.
Possess a valid Missouri or Kansas driver’s license, with clean driving record; CDL preferred.
Language/Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability
English, bilingual preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook; Office365 preferred.
Ability to comprehend and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy and procedure manuals.
Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, volunteers and clients of the organization.
Ability to work assigned hours, noted above, and work some holidays and evenings, as needed.
Ability to work in a wide variety weather conditions.
Ability to work in fast-paced industrial warehouse.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Volunteers fill several different roles, from helping in the kitchen to washing dishes or being wait staff in the dining room. The Kansas City Community Kitchen is open EVERY weekday, including holidays and in winter weather. We serve a continental breakfast from 7:30-9 and lunch from 11 am - 2 pm. You're welcome to volunteer as an individual or bring a group.
Recommended volunteer shifts and roles:
Morning prep teams, every weekday, 8:30 - 10:30 am. Common tasks might be helping with breakfast dishes, chopping fresh fruit and salad ingredients, or sorting that morning's donations.
Lunch service, 10:30-2:30 each weekday. At 10:30, before lunch begins, we provide training on how the whole system works. After we lock the doors at 2 we ask everyone to help us clean up, getting you out no later than 2:30 pm (often earlier when everyone pitches in). Volunteers can choose from among the “front of house” positions, including roles as hosts, wait staff, bussers & beverage station.
