SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION

Grid Operations Engineer Intern will assist with all facets of Grid Operations work necessary to maintain a reliable transmission system. Assist in performing outage studies, conduct tests and evaluate reports to validate system operation and reliability. May assist in interrogating system events to determine system performance using computers, disturbance monitoring and other methods to recommend solutions to enhance power reliability. Provide on-site technical assistance for outage coordination, system modification, software commissioning, testing and maintenance of Energy Management System components. Assist engineers to ensure budget and schedules are met for capital projects. Assist in fire/flood outage contingency coordination and assist in implementing new operational tools and improving existing tools.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate & maintain a good safety record
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office excel, word, and access data base
  • Require Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, General) Degree
  • Student must have completed Sophomore level or higher by stated date
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must Provide GPA in application materials
  • An understanding of electric power systems, electric circuit analysis techniques and a general understanding of software programs is desirable
