Part or Full Time Research Intern (Summer or School Year)

The Research Intern performs recruitment and scheduling for an ongoing research study under the direction of the Director of Engagement and Communications. He or She will set appointment days/times with participants via phone calls, text messaging, email exchanges, and via a web-based appointment scheduling system. In addition, the intern will conduct recruitment in-person at various sites throughout the Chicagoland area. The Research Intern will communicate proactively in-person, by phone, or email recruitment with potential participants. Some evening and or weekend work may likely be required.

Northwestern Medicine is also a leading member of the Illinois Precision Medicine Consortium – a group of healthcare providers and fellow partners of the All of Us Research Program that represent a large and diverse patient population covering the greater Chicago area and Illinois. All of Us is run by the National Institutes of Health.

Join our research team to make history and change the future of health. Research team members will recruit study volunteers to share health data that will be added to the All of Us Research Program database. Researchers can access this data to conduct studies. This could help them see how different factors, like environment, lifestyle, and genes, can impact health. This may help develop new medical treatments that are unique to each person.

Job details: Performs biomedical research by administering tests &/or questionnaires following protocols; collecting, compiling, tabulating &/or processing responses; gathering information; &/or assisting in the preparation of material for inclusion in reports. Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).

This position can be full or part time, starting ASAP or during Summer 2018.

Minimum requirement: Must be at least 16 years old. College students especially encouraged to apply.

  1. Selected candidate will enjoy heavy phone and computer work and have the ability to deal with people from all cultures and socio-economic levels in a friendly manner.
  2. Willingness to pitch in and help the study team members wherever help is required.
  3. Must have an engaging, energetic personality and be able to transmit excitement and passion for the project to potential participants.
