POSITION DESCRIPTION: Performs the primary functions of a Perioperative Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients in the Operating Room/PACU/ Endo/ OPS procedures during the shift.
Is responsible for meeting the AORN Standards of Nursing Practice. Carries out and adheres to all policies and procedures to meet establish standards. Included in this assignment is the responsibility for timely coordination and management of adequate levels of personnel, supplies and equipment to perform safe perioperative care. Ensures active communication coordination between patients, staff, supervisors, physicians, and other hospital departments. Assigns the surgical orders for cases on a daily basis; including add on cases. Manages the daily functions of the OR and CS. Must be able to identify issues and process information on the hospital’s health information management system as required in performing job responsibilities. Manage troubleshooting processes to create a smooth work flow between staff, surgeons, and vendors. The OR Coordinator must be able to circulate surgical cases and staff periodic weekend call rotation. Will be responsible for managing the unit during the absence of the unit manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or compact state. Five years experience working as lead or assistant manager/manager in a patient care unit, preferred. Minimum two years of nursing experience, required. Preference will be given to those who also have 1 year of OR experience. BCLS and ACLS, required or the ability to secure certifications within orientation period.
