Our Client invented the modern-day aluminum industry and is the world's leading producer of aluminum and fabricated aluminum, as well as the world's largest miner of bauxite and refiner of alumina. Named the most admired metals company in the world by Fortune magazine, our Client's supply chain group is seeking to hire a Global Sourcing Manager to lead strategies and negotiations that drive savings and total cost value creation for assigned spend categories.
Procurement is central to the company's global competitiveness. Managing a spend of more than $15 billion annually, the procurement group has responsibility for everything from strategic raw materials, to growth/maintenance capital, plant services, MRO, and corporate indirects. With support from the company's executive leadership, the procurement group is growing its strategic procurement team to capture next-level value from all of these critical spend categories.
Please note: This position will focus primarily on indirects, MRO, services, etc.
Work with corporate team, business units, and regional stakeholders to prioritize an evolving portfolio of high-value process improvement and sourcing initiatives. Serve as a full partner to the business in evaluating and challenging the status quo to surface value opportunities. Lead the aggregation, normalization, and analysis of spend data to identify potential value opportunities. Work with Market Intelligence to identify opportunities arising from commodity trends, emerging technologies, and market conditions. Ensure proper sequencing, resourcing, and business support for value capture initiatives.
Sourcing and Contracting
Drive sourcing projects emerging from commodity planning. Define goals, including roles and responsibilities of stakeholders. Surface and incorporate business requirements into sourcing plans and RFP strategies. Enhance competition by leveraging spend and qualified new suppliers. Coordinate and lead negotiations; help stakeholders understand trade‐offs and benefits of negotiation
Develop global/regional contracts that are commercially sound and provide optimum protection of company assets. Develop comprehensive implementation with stakeholders and end users. Quantify and report both identified and implemented sourcing project results.
Supplier Relationship Management
Foster relationships with suppliers to create short-term and long-term value for the company. Lead global business reviews with strategic suppliers to ensure performance against contracted obligations and business unit expectations. Anticipate and minimize performance issues via use of key performance indicators (KPIs). When performance issues emerge, identify root causes and drive for efficient resolution of issues at hand by working across both internal and external stakeholders. Educate suppliers on business systems to drive improvements in quality and service.
The ideal candidate will possess: (1) excellent analytical and problem solving skills to drive fact-based decision making; (2) the commercial instincts to identify and make best use of vendor strengths and weaknesses; (3) the self confidence and clarity of expression to lead discussions with internal executive audiences; and, (4) hands-on experience leading multi-regional or global initiatives.
