Contract Lab Tech
The Laboratory Technician tests product batches and makes recommendation for adjustments, as necessary, to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards. Examines compliance of incoming raw materials and maintains Certificates of Analysis (COA) from suppliers. Also, retains files and samples for specified period of time in accordance with the company’s quality policy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.) Performs standard tests on assigned product line production batches and examines specifications of incoming raw materials as needed, ensuring compliance of company requirements.
2.) Acts as a technical resource to production addressing issues related to production batches.
3.) Recommends to production and may develop adjustments to batches to meet specifications.
4.) Records test results in SAP. Maintains reference files.
5.) Completes and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
6.) Ensures all gauges and test equipment are verified.
7.) May participate in investigations of complaints and corrective actions as needed.
8.) Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
9.) Completes and sends documentation to customers (i.e. COA)
10.) Other duties as assigned.
1.) Requires high school diploma or GED equivalency.
2.) Minimum 1 year of related manufacturing lab/quality experience.
3.) Must be able to run a wide variety of lab equipment/test including: scales, ovens, viscometers, extruders, melt index, ash content, color match, GC, DSC, FTIR, X-Ray, density, etc.
4.) Must have the ability to operate standard office equipment such as a computer, a calculator, telephone, fax, and photocopier.
5.) Requires matching proficiency, including the ability to color match.
6.) Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical lab procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications.
7.) Must be able to write legibly to keep records and to correspond.
8.) Must have strong mathematical skills; must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide and have the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
9.) Must be able to effectively communicate one-on-one and in small group situations.
10.) Must have ability to reason and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
11.) May require obtainment of a Fork Lift Operator's License.
