Job Summary

Handle billing functions and exceptions within a long-term care pharmacy. Work with insurance providers, nursing center staff and prescriber's office. Provide support and feedback regarding billing errors to pharmacy personnel. Support an environment that promotes optimal efficiencies, staff retention and superior quality of business office employees.


  • Computer skills, including fundamental knowledge of Windows based software programs, including but not limited to word processing and spreadsheet applications specifically MS Excel
  • Organization skills including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to effectively and harmoniously interact with facility, group, division and company management and other employees at all levels; promotes teamwork and demonstrates strong professionalism
  • Ability to communicate, perform and comprehend variables within the pharmacy operation
  • Capable of providing excellent customer service to all external and internal customers
  • Keeps abreast of current state, federal and company policies, procedures and regulations
  • Understand, promote and comply with rules and regulations governing residents' rights
  • Routine batch submission and posting
  • Third party adjudication and claims rejections
  • Working Hospice claims
  • Working third party Prior Authorizations
  • Processing refused medications from customers & medications for credit returned from customers
  • Compiling, preparing and submitting paperwork as needed for claims audits
  • Intake of new admits – face sheet, payor source entry
  • Rx order entry functions as needed


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Pharmacy Technician certification in the State of Texas
  • At least one year of pharmacy billing experience, preferred
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
  • Must be dependable and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work and produce results under pressure
  • Ability to adhere to regulatory and company compliance, Code of Conduct and Business Ethics (OSHA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent computer skills including Excel, Word
