Position Title: Workers’ Compensation Policy Specialist

Lyons HR, an industry leading provider of Human Resources and workplace management solutions, is currently recruiting for a Workers’ Compensation Policy Specialist. This position, answering to the Director of Risk Management, will be critical in supporting the Workers’ Compensation process for both the company and our clients, providing assurance that coverages are in place to mitigate risk and assure compliance.

Position Summary:

Under minimal direction, the Workers’ Compensation Policy Specialist plans, organizes, and administers select elements of the Lyons HR Workers’ Compensation Program to include preparing required reports, invoicing premiums, auditing, and monitoring the program activities to ensure the delivery of quality services. The position answers to the Underwriting Coordinator. The selected candidate will have a skill set to includes heavy work with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP IS a must), preferably at the Intermediate level, experience in managing insurance processes, generation of monthly reports, monitoring of insurance renewals and assuring that certifications of insurance are in place. The position will also require a significant amount of data entry in the process of assuring workers’ compensation policy administration.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monthly preparation of premium payroll reports and check requests
  • Assurance that premiums are paid, and policies remain in force
  • Provide certificates of Workers’ Compensation coverage to clients at policy renewal.
  • Maintain file of Workers’ Compensation and Commercial General Liability certificates for all clients
  • Prepare Workers’ Compensation audits for carriers at renewal and as requested
  • Notify Workers’ Compensation carriers of client policy changes
  • Monitor the Schedule of Locations to ensure that all locations have a current Workers’ Compensation policy
  • Coordinate Workers’ Compensation policy renewals complete with payment processing
  • Prepare monthly reports for the executive team
  • Reconcile Workers’ Compensation statements and provide for monthly review
  • Set up new accounts in the file maintenance system to included coding and rate determination
  • Request and prepare Certificates of Insurance for client’s customers
  • Prepare client termination letters for signature and mail
  • Prepare employee termination letters for signature and mail
  • Conduct internal audits of workers’ compensation premiums due for corporate review
  • Terminate client relationships with appropriate state agencies and insurance companies

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Work experience in the insurance industry is preferred (preference given to candidates with direct experience in the field of worker’s compensation insurance)
  • Ability to manage deadlines and handle multiple tasks is required
  • Strong Customer Service skills are required
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills are required to include VLOOKUP
  • Proficiency with all capabilities of the Microsoft Office Suite is required
