Clinical Flow Cytometry Scientist

We are looking for energetic, self-starters who can contribute to our growing clinical team aimed at defining new immune-centric biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases. This position will be exclusively laboratory-based and will involve processing of blood samples, separation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), immunolabeling and analysis via flow cytometry, LC-MS and ELISA. The candidate should be proficient at multi-color flow cytometry (labeling and running of samples) and should have some experience with multi-color panel design. Additionally, the candidate will need to be proficient in cell culture techniques. The most successful candidate will work closely with other leading scientists and upper management within Longevity Biotech as well as with external partners. This role is clinical-focused and it is imperative that the candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable in a regulated laboratory environment and extremely careful with samples. Activities

  • Secure de-identified patient samples and information from partner hospital systems while following IRB-approved protocols and documentation procedures.
  • Perform specific cell isolation techniques under sterile conditions according to SOPs.
  • Immunolabel cell populations for multiple candidate biomarkers according to SOPs.
  • Physically run samples on a flow cytometer system and analyze results according to SOPs.
  • Physically run samples on a LC-MS system and analyze results.
  • Physically run samples for processing via ELISA and analyze results.
  • Sample and population level data processing and reporting.
  • Prepare reports (summary, deviation, outlier, etc.) based on experimental results.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor degree in biology, bioengineering, biochemistry or equivalent is required
  • Masters or Ph.D. is preferred
  • Previous laboratory experience (4+ years)
    • Previous experience as the primary user of a flow cytometer
    • Experience with handling and processing human (i.e. clinical) blood samples is required
    • Previous experience working in a regulated environment (GLP, clinical or similar setting)
    • Executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Standard lab techniques
    • Sterile cell culture techniques (T cells or other cells in suspension)
  • High dimensional analysis of multiple parameter datasets, i.e. experience with statistical analysis
  • Ability to follow a defined workflow process while providing routine feedback
  • Must exert close attention to details while following a routine schedule
