Change Deployment Leader/Manager

This position is NOT located in Albany, NY, but in a location southwest in Western Massachusetts. To protect the confidentiality of this search, this location will not be announced until candidates are identified for interview.

Define, prepare, lead and execute projects/programs as well as create support for project objectives in the organization, in line with requirements and business needs and conform project management guidelines, in order to deliver project/processes/training according to objectives and deliverables and realize business objectives in a structural way

Accountabilities:

Project initiation & orientation:

Identify and collect ideas, business requirements and needs, define the scope of the project, determine the feasibility by building a business case and define project objectives within agreed project management guidelines

Project design & plan:

Formulate the project plan (including resourcing, planning, risk mitigation, quality control and organizational requirements), determine budget and acquire approval, in line with project objectives Project plan and budget is approved, project risks are considered and project execution can start

Project preparation & execution:

Execute project, coordinate the activities of the project team members, monitor progress of project and compliance with the project plan, manage and mitigate project risks and resources, create risk awareness among stakeholders, manage stage-gates and adjust project plan when necessary

Project closure & implementation:

Deliver the project in line with project objectives, budget and planning, discuss project results with business, hand over project to line management when necessary and evaluate the project with all involved stakeholders

Stakeholder Management:

Create support for complete project approach (objectives, planning etc), update and consult relevant stakeholders regularly, manage expectations of relevant stakeholders during execution, involve stakeholders in decision making and build and maintain a network of relevant stakeholders

Supplier Management:

Assess and select suppliers, possible partners and other relevant organizations, based on agreed project requirements and build and maintain relationships with them Business relations, suppliers / partners / organizations, are well managed and support project requirements

Reports:

Ensure periodical project management reporting, quantitative and qualitative, according to defined formats and project management guidelines relevant information is available that enables relevant stakeholder to prepare and make decisions

Methods and techniques:

Keep up with relevant project management methods and techniques and optimize the implementation of and support for Projects within the company

Team/people management:

Functionally lead, coach, develop members of the own project team, and give input for appraisal Project team members are optimally deployable (quantitative and qualitative) and are willing to and capable of realizing the project objectives

Program management:

Initiate, define, manage and monitor the progress, alignment, quality and continuity of various multidisciplinary projects

Stakeholder Management:

Manages and leads a few (groups of) stakeholders on operational/tactical level

Project Complexity and Risks:

Participates in complex projects with medium risks using given techniques

Project Scope:

Leads mono-disciplinary projects involving multiple parties (2^3) and reports to Operations Director

Autonomy:

Builds business case, defines scope and activities of projects and ensures execution

Coaching:

Coaches junior project managers, project engineers and process technologists

Functional Duties:

- Input to the design and development of the facility to ensure that the plant needs are reflected in the design (for example regarding quality assurance and automation)

- Ensuring that the plant production organization is informed of the project activities, which may affect the day to day operation

- Ensuring training of personnel (operations, laboratory) in the new process and cleaning-in-place equipment and associated (laboratory/operational) procedures together with Human Resources

- Ensures the communication of the operators department with the project (in both directions)

- Coordinate the required resources of the plant operations organization for the project

- Coordinate by the start of the project the processing requirements for the project (input for user requirement specifications/basis of design). Monitors during the project the execution according the user requirement specifications

- Make sure that by the hand-over of the project from the project organization to the production organization that the project documentation is according to company standards and filed at the proper departments

- Check that production is informed about required production stops required for the execution of the project

- Advises the project team regarding the decision making at the location over the new equipment, layout, routing etc

- Observe short comings of the production organization, which can influence the continuation of the project and discuss these short comings with the related persons


Role Synopsis:The ideal candidate will have 5+ experience leading the deployment of lean/six sigma change interventions and programs . This position interacts with stakeholders at varying levels. Candidates must be a change agent and have the ability to influence without formal authority. This position reports to the Director of Operations and with dotted-line to VP of Operations.
