Description:

This is a full time position, 40 hours a week.
Daily work hours are 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

Job location is Albany, NY.

Consolidation of all New York State IT operations under one government entity, the new Office of Information Technology Services (ITS). The goal is to deliver services more effectively, better utilize skills of the current IT workforce and create an enterprise infrastructure. The Division of IT is requesting a Technical Writer – Expert Level position to assist with analyzing the impacts of transformation.

This position will work with state staff to create supporting documents, spreadsheets, and maintain the project schedule. Additionally, this position will work with a vendor to conduct Human Services IT analysis and prepare a roadmap of the integration of 15 agencies.

Position Mandatory Qualifications:

Expert 84+ Months: Candidate is able to provide leadership of large teams and/or extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field
Technical Writer
Translates technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel
 Develop and/or maintain the following types of documentation: system documentation; user manuals; installation guides; computer operations and program maintenance manuals; plans for training, testing, quality assurance, and contingency operations; and backup, recovery and restart procedures; technical writing for proposals, presentations, standard operating procedures (SOP), policies and procedures as well as reports
Edits functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents

Additional Qualifications:
  • 84+ months experience utilizing Microsoft Office Products – specifically Word, Excel, Outlook & Visio
  • 72+ months experience writing specifications, process flows, business processes, and end user documentation.
  • 72+ months experience creating project plans and schedules and reporting out on such.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business related field
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration
