Lithos is seeking a hands-on engineering director who can build and lead effective and capable teams to deliver world-class battery systems. You must be genuinely passionate about electric vehicles and energy systems. You must want to work in a rapidly evolving small company where you will wear many hats. You must be excited about creating reliable, high quality and safe products and delivering them to real customers.

You will be an active voice in company leadership, helping to making strategic and business decisions. You will run the mechanical engineering team and work closely with electrical and software teams to ensure products are well integrated. You will be responsible for leading overall design and development of battery packs and subsystems, and developing key technologies to push the state of the art. You will own entire programs from kick-off to prototype, validation, release, volume production and support.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and validation of all battery systems
• Define and improve development process and documentation, drive continuous improvement of processes and products
• Lead program planning, design processes (DFMEA, design reviews, validation etc), and program management activities
• Lead hiring efforts and grow the engineering team, mentor engineers and promote inclusive culture of engineering excellence
• Manage relationships with key customers and suppliers
• Coordinate engineering activities with other business functions
• Anything else needed to get the job done.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated effectiveness in a fast-paced, small team environment. Very effective communicator
• B.S. or M.S. Engineering and 10+ years relevant work experience
• 5+ years management experience
• Strong understanding of underlying technologies and relevant best practices
• Experience bringing products from concept through to stable production
• Experience owning designs through validation, first builds and release to stable production.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Familiar with battery and electrical safety topics, electronics and component selection
• Experience with automotive requirements and validation
• Proficient with CAD / FEA (Solidworks), GD&T, and validation
